Installation
macOS says OuchMac "cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified". What do I do?
This is a Gatekeeper prompt, not a virus warning. Right-click the app in Applications, then click Open, then click Open again in the dialog. macOS will remember your choice. Alternatively go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → scroll down → click "Open Anyway".
The OuchMac icon is not showing in my menubar.
On macOS Sequoia, the menubar can overflow and hide icons. Click the date/time at the top-right or drag the divider left to reveal more space. You can also use Command+Space, type OuchMac, and press Enter to re-open it.
The app opened but I cannot find where to activate.
Click the OuchMac icon in your menubar, go to Settings → License. Enter the email you used at checkout and click Verify. Internet required for first activation.
Sounds & Detection
No sound plays when I hit my MacBook.
Check three things: (1) your Mac volume is not muted, (2) OuchMac is set to a sound pack (not None), (3) your sensitivity slider is not set too high — try sliding it to the middle first and hitting your desk firmly.
Sounds trigger too often — even when I am just typing.
Slide the sensitivity toward the low end in the menubar popover. The default is tuned for moderate impacts; if you have a vibrating desk or heavy keyboard, go lower.
Can I use OuchMac with my headphones or external speaker?
Yes. OuchMac plays through whatever audio output your Mac is currently using — internal speakers, AirPods, wired headphones, or Bluetooth speaker. Change your output in System Settings → Sound.
Does OuchMac work when my Mac is locked or the screen is off?
Yes. OuchMac runs as a background process and fires sounds even when the screen is off. It does not require the display to be active.
License & Billing
I lost my license key. How do I get it back?
Search your inbox for "OuchMac" or "OUCH-". If you cannot find it, email support@ouchmac.com with the email address you used at checkout and we will resend it within 24 hours.
I bought OuchMac on two Macs and now I got a third Mac. Can I transfer my license?
Each license covers 2 activations. To transfer to a new Mac, you need to deactivate from one of your current machines first. Email support@ouchmac.com and we can help you reset your activations.
How do I get a refund?
